Introduction
Technology continues to reshape parenting, and a new smart device that quietly transitions from a rocker to a bassinet—without waking the baby—has become a welcome relief for tired parents.
At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, UK-based women’s health tech company Elvie introduced the Rise smart baby rocker. Its key innovation is the ability to smoothly shift between rocking and bassinet modes, eliminating the common struggle of moving a sleeping baby and accidentally waking them.
The Rise is designed to help parents soothe their infants more effectively while offering a safer sleep environment. It can be controlled via a smartphone app and even tracks baby’s sleep patterns—making child-rearing a little easier and smarter.
🔁 Seamless Mode Transition Addresses Parenting Pain Points
Elvie developed the Rise in response to feedback from hundreds of parents. “After feeding, the next biggest stressor for new parents is calming their baby and helping them sleep,” said Alex Knox, Chief Product Officer at Elvie.
Typically, when a baby falls asleep in a rocker or swing, parents must move them to a crib or bassinet—a process that often disturbs the child. The Rise addresses this with a clever design:
Once the baby falls asleep in rocker mode, parents can quietly unlock and retract the safety barrier. The sides slide up and the backrest tilts into a firm, flat sleeping position—all without moving the baby.
📱 App-Driven Customization for the Modern Family
The Rise connects to a mobile app that allows customization of motion speed, rocking duration, and sleep tracking. Its ”SootheLoop” technology learns and repeats preferred rocking styles to mimic a parent’s natural motion.
A built-in sensor detects when the baby is in the bassinet and automatically logs sleep data, giving parents detailed insight into their child’s rest patterns.
🛡️ Safety First: Compliant with AAP Guidelines
Safety was central to the Rise’s development. It complies with American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) safe sleep guidelines, featuring a firm, flat mattress, breathable fabric, and retractable harnesses.
Elvie notes that more than 67% of infants under three months sleep in products not intended for overnight rest. The Rise aims to reduce reliance on non-compliant rockers or swings.
It supports babies up to 9 kg in rocker mode, and up to 10 kg in bassinet mode—or until the child can sit or push up on hands and knees.
🧑🔬 Tested and Trusted by Real Families
The product underwent 13 rounds of testing with real parents and babies. Response was highly positive—many test families were reluctant to return the prototypes.
The product is especially aimed at reducing burnout among new mothers; over 90% report exhaustion in the newborn phase.
🚀 The Future of AI-Enhanced Nursery Tech
Elvie’s Rise is part of a larger wave of smart nursery products showcased at CES 2025. Many companies are incorporating AI into baby monitors, bassinets, and environmental sensors.
For example, Bosch introduced the Revol AI-enhanced bassinet, which offers real-time video, health insights, and environmental monitoring. Such products point toward a future where smart, connected devices support parents in more intuitive and helpful ways.
📅 Launch Timeline
The Elvie Rise is expected to launch within the next three months.
